Well over 40 Group Classes
Start Moving Well
45 minute class, up to 12 participants
Are you losing body strength because illness or injury is deterring you from being active? Perhaps the thought of ‘exercise’ is scary? Or maybe you’ve popped it in the ‘too hard and too-busy-to-do-it-basket’?
Understanding that exercise is so important for both our physical and mental health, our Start Moving Well class will slowly re-introduce you to movement. After all, your body is designed to move!
* You do not need an individual assessment before commencing this class, but please let us know if you have any significant health issues.
Fun exercises, of course! This is a gentle group exercise class that’s conducted mainly on a seat. It includes a range of movement and resistance exercises, coupled with some gentle cardio. To assist with your exercises, you may use therabands, balls, small weights and other items during this class. This will depend on your ability.
This class is for people who are new to exercise or haven’t exercised for a while. It’s also designed for people with mobility and balance issues, people recovering from a heart attack, gastric band surgery or other health or surgical issues. There may be up to 12 people in this group.
Moving Almost Like Jagger Class
45 minute class, up to 12 participants
If you’re looking to step it up a little from your ‘Start Moving Well’ classes or a heart program, our Moving Almost Like Jagger group class offers the perfect transition. Before joining this class, if you have any significant injuries, please let us know, as we may require a clearance from your GP.
* Note: We do not guarantee that you will be able to move like Jagger if you participate in this class!
A progression from the gentle Start Moving Well program, our Moving Almost Like Jagger classes are designed to keep you challenged. With only some exercises conducted on a seat, the movements are faster, and the cardio and resistance exercises are performed at a harder level. Also, participants will mostly perform similar exercises, depending on ability.
If you’ve been attending the Start Moving Well class for a while, or if you had a reasonable degree of activity before your illness or surgery, you may be comfortable starting at this level. There may be up to 12 people in this group.
