‘Women’s Health for Life’ Seminar Series – Save the dates!

Fizzio for Life is excited to announce our Women’s Health for Life Seminar Series.  The series of free community education evenings aims to educate women in the Logan community about a range of help available for gender specific health needs through their lifecycle.

The interactive seminars will have guest speakers from a range of health disciplines and organisations.  Light refreshments will be provided.  Giveaways and fundraising will be conducted throughout the evening.

The proposed seminar topics are:

1:  Inaugural session:  Pregnancy – Your body, birth and beyond.

Come along and learn about what happens to your body during pregnancy.  You will hear expert obstetricians talk about what happens to your body during natural birth, medical interventions, and post pregnancy. Our physiotherapist will discuss what happens to joints and ligaments during pregnancy, pelvic care, and how to manage recovery from birth, Caesarean sections, rectus diastasis.  Our exercise physiologist will discuss safe exercise during pregnancy. 

Guest speakers:

Dr Anu Kaur

Dr Anu Kaur is a specialist obstetrician and director of Aurora Women's Health in Spring Hill. She has a particular interest in the management of high risk pregnancies such as IVF, twins, and pregnancies complicated by medical conditions.  She also manages gynaecological complaints including abnormal pap smears, heavy periods, endometriosis, pelvic organ prolapse, polycystic ovaries, pelvic pain and ovarian cysts, adolescent gynaecology issues and contraception advice including IUD’s. She offers laparoscopic surgery and Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy as a minimally invasive procedure. Dr Kaur is a staff specialist at Logan Hospital in addition to running her private practice, her private practice at Mater Mothers’ Private BrisbaneStAndrews Hospital and The Wesley Hospital She is passionate about mentoring junior doctors and medical students to ensure women receive the best health care possible.

Dr Kristina Balaba

Dr Balaba is the Principal House Officer in obstetrics and gynaecology at Logan Hospital and will commence specialty training next year as a registrar. She is a lecturer at Griffith University and has completed her Masters in Women’s Health with Excellence at University of New South Wales. Dr Balaba also holds a Bachelors of Science (majoring in Biomedical Science) at UQ and has tutored medical students at both Griffith University and University of Queensland.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Light refreshments will be provided. Please advise dietary requirements at the time of ticketing.  Raffles will be held on the night to fund raise for the Miracle Babies Foundation.
