Our active ageing exercise studio, ‘Well Over 40″, grew from strength to strength last year thanks to your support.
Due to the popularity of our small and medium group classes in 2019 we have added some additional ones into the 2020 timetable! Book in quickly to reserve your place to start working towards a positive lifestyle change and better health for 2020 and beyond.
The new classes are as follows:
Small Group Osteoporosis Class – Monday @ 10am
- This class has a specific focus on improving bone mineral density (BMD) for those diagnosed with osteopenia, osteoporosis, or wanting preventative exercise to reduce their risk of developing these conditions. This class with also include a balance component to reduce falls risk and increase confidence in your activities of daily living. Numbers in this class are limited to 5 people so the exercises prescribed will be very specific to your needs and goals.
Small Group Strength Class – Wednesday @ 10am and Thursday @ 6pm
- As the name suggests this class has a strong focus on building strength across all the muscles of the body and improving technique and confidence in variety of functional movements. This class also has a cardiovascular and balance component to make it a well-rounded exercise program. This class is perfect for those looking to learn how to lift weights safely and with good technique. Class size is limited to 5 people so the exercises prescribed are very specific to your level and capabilities.
Medium Group Functional Fit Class – Saturday @ 8am
- The functional fit class has a strong focus on combining functional, multi-joint movements and high intensity cardiovascular exercise structured together in a fast-paced circuit format. There are always options including at each station so the class can be modified to suit almost any fitness level. Class size is limited to 8 people and all exercises prescribed are tailored to your specific level and capabilities.
Medium Group Pilates Class – Saturday @ 9am
- This class has a specific focus on improving strength, endurance, general fitness and flexibility through Pilates-inspired exercises. It can involve either mat work or reformer resistance-based exercises depending on the class size and the needs of the group on that particular day. This class is perfect for those who are pregnant and want to continue exercising safely through the course of their pregnancy. Class size is limited to 8 people and all exercises prescribed are tailored to your specific level and capabilities.
Active Ageing circuit – Tuesday 9am (subsidised class)
The Exercise Right for Active Ageing (ERAA) project is a group class intervention for people over 65 year of age. Thanks to funding from the Australian Government, we’re able to deliver discounted classes to seniors in the Logan area. As part of the program, each participant is pre-screened and does a small assessment before getting started. These tests measure your functional capabilities and current levels of physical activity. Once cleared to take part, you get a subsidised one-hour session once per week, for 12 weeks. A post-assessment is completed once you finish all 12 classes to compare your progress.Each class and the assessments at Fizzio for Life will be run by a university qualified Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP).
