If yourself or any of your family members have been diagnosed with Cancer, you will know that what follows is a whirlwind of appointments, many of them in the city with added expenses and parking adding to the stress of your diagnosis.
Fizzio for Life has been focused on bringing oncology rehabilitation services to Logan. As part of the PINC and STEEL certified program, our team are able to provide physiotherapy and exercise services for people at any stage of their cancer journey.
Our PINC Cancer Rehab Physiotherapist, Julie, assesses each patient for physical impairments and the effects of their treatment. She works with each patient to create a rehabilitation program to suit their particular stage in recovery. The sessions can include a combination of services including; manual physiotherapy, graduated resistance training, fatigue management and exercise prescription.
Cancer rehabilitation provides so many benefits to people affected by cancer. It reduces unnecessary disability, restores movement and function and improves quality of life. There is strong evidence supporting rehabilitation and exercise not only helping people physically but also emotionally, vocationally and socially.
But sadly, the truth is that a cancer diagnosis can be financially stressful and unfortunately, many people are still missing out on this essential service and are suffering unnecessarily long after their treatment has completed.
This is where our team are looking for your help! The entire clinic staff, along with some patients, have signed up for Dry July to raise funds for the PINC and STEEL Foundation. And the best news is that we have been promised that EVERY cent raised by their team will be returned back to the clinic to provide free and low cost services to our local patients with cancer.
We would love your help to achieve or exceed their fund-raising target of $5000. Best of all you can help in three different ways! Firstly, you could make a fully tax-deductible donation to their team at https://www.dryjuly.com/teams/fizzio-for-life-logan. If times are tight, you could also head to that page and join their team to help raise funds and awareness of this cause. Lastly you can head to their Facebook page and share the fundraising pages, and while you are there check out all of the Mocktail recipes, alcohol free alcohol reviews and other fun activities they will get up to.
