Did you know 1 in 6 Australians are aged 65 or older? That’s about 16% of our population and these numbers will increase over the next years and decades with access to better technology and healthcare. Some older Australians can access additional funding to maintain their independence through My Aged Care. This helps everyday Australians live better lives within their own homes with increasing access to in-home support such as personal care, cooking, cleaning, and transport. But many people don’t know that they an also use their funds to access to allied health and other services they may not be able to access without assistance.

So what is My Aged Care?

My Aged Care is the starting point to access government funded aged care services. Access to packages will depend on your own individual situation and needs services will maintain independence at home.

My Aged Care is about maintaining your independence. So when your body is limiting you and affecting your independence, that is where we can help. With an increased access to allied health (meaning regular physiotherapy and exercise physiology services), your pain can be eased, and we can help maintain or improve your strength and balance – ultimately helping you to keep doing the things that you want to do!

What services can I access using my package with Fizzio for Life?

There are a few options for services:

* Physiotherapy sessions provide hands-on treatment to address pain and mobility. It helps reduce your pain and keep you flexible so you can keep active as long as possible.

*Exercise Physiology sessions provide a supported exercise program to work on your strength and balance. This means you can reduce your risk of falling, and the medical issues that may come with that. But it also means you are in a better position to be able to help yourself if you fall and you may be better able to get up.

Hydrotherapy sessions are held in our purpose-built, easy access facility right next door to the clinic. If you find it hard to exercise on land, or it is too painful, we have a number of options in our warm magnesium pool to help ease you back in to movement.

*If transport is a barrier, our Physio’s or EP’s can come to your house and complete in-home sessions, and also some home care managers can provide transport under your package for you to attend therapies.
